An Emperor Indonesia holiday will provide you with enough wonderful memories to last a lifetime.
But, if you are joining us one on of our amazing liveaboard trips in this must-visit part of the world, it is well worth extending your stay to make the most of your time there.
There are so many incredible places to visit and experiences to be had – and Lombok is a very good example.
Exploring Lombok provides a fascinating blend of natural wonders and cultural interest that will enhance any visit to Indonesia. From beautiful beaches to wonderous waterfalls the island presents a wealth of activities to enthral, exercise and entertain.
The Gili Islands, for example, are three stunning paradises: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. These car-free islands boast crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs where you can relax or dive or party.
For the more energetic and adventurous on Lombok there is Mount Rinjani – Indonesia’s second-tallest peak.
This active volcano rewards trekkers with breathtaking views, a stunning crater lake and soothing hot springs. It might be a demanding climb but it offers an opportunity to connect with nature and test your limits.
Nestling at the foot of Rinjani is the village Senaru where the twin waterfalls of Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep are a sight to behold. The journey to reach them takes you through dense forests and offers a refreshing respite from the tropical heat – as does a dip in the cool waters or a shower under the cascading falls.
Those wanting to immerse themselves in the culture of Indonesia and mingle with the Lombok natives should visit one of the many traditional Sasak villages. Sasak people are the native inhabitants of the island and have preserved their unique way of life over generations.
Villages such as Banyumulek, Sukarara and Sade are among the best to see their authentic village architecture and watch on as traditional handmade crafts are produced.
If local produce is your thing, don’t miss out on the Lombok cuisine. Sasak dishes like Ayam Taliwang (grilled chicken), Plecing Kangkung (water spinach salad), Satay Rembiga (meat skewers) and Nasi Balap Puyung (mixed rice with various toppings) will have your tastebuds dancing with joy.
And if all that exercise tires you out or you need a bit of peace and quiet to digest a delicious meal, Lombok’s coastline has the most beautiful beaches which are perfect for a spot of sunbathing or a leisurely walk.
So, don’t come charging in and head straight for your liveaboard. Take a few days to get yourself settled, ensure you experience this amazing island and see a bit more of the wonderful country that is Indonesia.
