The Marsa Alam region is fantastic for diving and always guaranteed to provide you with amazing underwater experiences.
That is why we have two bases in the area, our boats sailing from the excellent Port Ghalib and our dive centre in beautiful Wadi Sabarah.
From here the Red Sea’s rich marine life is easily accessible and your never far from encounters with dolphins, turtles, reef sharks, and even the ever-popular dugongs.
The diversity of fish is astonishing while the area’s reefs are famously well-preserved, featuring colourful hard and soft corals. These lively underwater habitats support a wide range of sea life and create stunning, photogenic backdrops.
Ghalib and Sabarah are also perfect points to explore some of the world’s most renowned dive sites. Places like Elphinstone Reef, Abu Dabbab and Samadai Reef (also, for obvious reasons, known as Dolphin House) are all within easy reach and give the rewards their reputations would suggest.
Also, as it takes slightly more effort to head that little bit further south in Egypt, fewer divers will venture down this way giving the chance to make the most of the Red Sea’s gin-clear water in more peaceful surroundings than you will find in more populated destinations in the country.
And if it’s the peace you are after, Wadi Sabarah is just about perfect. This is a tranquil retreat that can revitalise mind and body – but yet is far from boring.
Indeed, it can offer you the best of both worlds.
Our base in the beautiful Botanical Lodge & Gardens is stunning. Built from repurposed fossilised coral limestone, it was designed in harmony with nature and oozes calm. There’s the opportunity to relax, do yoga, read, study, take in the gallery of local artefacts, swim, eat, drink, sleep…
For your diving needs the water literally laps the shore next to our centre meaning access could not be easier.
Yet Sabarah offers the best of both worlds. As well as being up close to the Red Sea, it is also right on the edge of the Eastern Desert. This really is the place where sand and sea meet.
From the lodge you can trek out into the hills and relish the most breathtaking views. There are walks that will show you natural wonders (literally millennia of geology right before your eyes), 8,000-year-old rock art or well-preserved buildings from over 1,600 years ago.
There are waterways that lead to lush fields within the desert, there are towering peaks and stunning valleys, there are camels, there is Bedouin hospitality and there are simply unforgettable Egyptian sunsets.
This is not just a region for diving. It is a region for diving, relaxation and adventure!
