Launched for 2025, Emperor Divers is delighted to announce a brand-new itinerary which takes in one of Indonesia’s last diving frontiers.
Our trip exploring Alor will see guests embark on a journey through the hidden treasures of this amazing archipelago providing encounters with awe-inspiring marine life, from playful dolphins and majestic whales to the elusive mola mola and various species of sharks.
This special adventure is made even better by the fact it is done from the stunning Emperor Raja Laut – our intimate schooner-style liveaboard which accommodates just 12 guests and has very recently been beautifully refurbished.
The Alor archipelago consists of about 20 mountainous islands with Alor itself and neighbouring Pantar the largest. The volcanic peak of Mount Sirung is a dominant figure at the southern tip of the latter and it is between these two islands that the new trip takes place with the deep surrounding waters forming part of the world-famous Coral Triangle, a region renowned for its incredible marine biodiversity.
And, because of its location, our Alor itinerary explores an area difficult to reach other than from a liveaboard making it and extra-special diving experience.
One of the highlights is Kalabahi Bay, famed for its macro and muck diving, where the underwater landscapes are as dramatic as the volcanic peaks that rise above the sea. Here, vibrant coral formations thrive, nurtured by the powerful currents that bring an array of marine creatures to life.
Other dive sites to be visited include fantastic places with self-explanatory names such as The Cathedral, Sharks Galore and the Great Wall of Pantar.
The itinerary is a dream for experienced divers, featuring dives at seamounts teeming with trevallies and barracuda tornadoes, and night dives where the elusive Rhinopias might make an appearance.
The adventure doesn’t stop underwater, though. The Alor itinerary will show guests the remarkable way of life on land where ancient traditions continue to thrive. An example of this is the chance to swim with local children who might come and join you and dive using their handmade wood-and-glass goggles.
This journey is more than just a diving trip – it’s an immersive experience in a world where nature and culture collide, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
Prepare for an unforgettable adventure.
